Be careful what you wish for...

It's been approved and now we are hurtling towards a closing date, but I just dreamt that the house is in a gang war zone and someone threw shrapnel infused explosive devices into our front yard. Seriously? I know I want this, I know it's going to improve our lives but I'm nervous as hell!

Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue (Not in that exact order)

SOMETHING BORROWED
Last Saturday we met our Friends the Uribes at McDonald's for lunch before heading to Dennis the Menace Park, the weather was holding and we were excited to share a good time with our friends. The new McDonald's was a madhouse but we got our food quickly and were able to enjoy it outside. The Bird was having Chicken McNuggets for the first time...I think? After finishing lunch, we headed to the park where the boys quickly found and fell in love with the slide on the 5-12 year olds section of the park. Luckily those kids were off doing other things which left the slide for the 2+year olds. I shadowed the Bird because it was, after all, a jungle gym for older kids. As I was taking my second picture, the camera rudely told me I hadn't prepared as well as I had thought and promptly shut down due to power failure. I'm happy to say that we BORROWED LA's great picture taking skills to take all the pictures for us, documenting a wonderful afternoon!

SOMETHING NEW
Same Saturday, later that evening, the Bird was having a toot-fest and after one extremely powerful one, I thought to change his diaper for fear of what smelled like a real blow-out. Much to my surprise there was nothing there but I did ask if he'd like to sit on the potty. Being the good sport that he is, he sat down and I sat across from him on the big potty, all the while, coaching him about a little push here and there. Low and behold after a big look of hesitation and some whiney "Mama's" he did something NEW, he pooped in the potty! Wow! I made a huge deal about it telling him he made poo-poos and giving him hugs and high fives. It took a second but he was cheering about the poop right along with me and clapping furiously! I never knew poop was cheer-worthy until I saw the Bird's first one in the potty. He's growing up and there's no turning back now, I suppose. Later in the week he made pee-pee in the potty for Grammy.

SOMETHING OLD and BLUE
On Friday the Bird had a low-grade fever that made it's way up to 103.7 before we headed to the ER. Luckily HH wasn't too busy and we made it in and out in 2.5 hours. As I see it now, there is no rhyme or reason for his fever except a swollen toothbud. There are no signs of a cold although the DOD did see a slight hint of an ear infection and a little throat redness so he ordered an Antibiotic shot which gave him a BLUE boo-boo, poor thing! The OLD--as we were finally taken into a room to be examined, the RN took out a children's cover-up and I tell you the Bird screamed and thrashed wildly. I told Aaron, "That is the same cover-up they put him in for his surgery last year"...he REMEMBERED!! Oh man, did I feel horrible! I thought his memory wasn't supposed to be so greatly developed. "Off! Off!" is all he kept crying to us. I was the mean one to put it on him so, "Dada, Dada!" followed. I am shocked that he remembered and even more shocked that not only the cover-up freaked him out so did the bed, he wouldn't get on the bed to save his life. He's doing a ton better today and hopefully we won't be at the ER anytime soon. I know now that if we ever go back, we're going to bring our own cover-up so he isn't further traumatized.

Parenthood is an adventure, one that I wouldn't trade, ever!

One Helluva Week!

~The House~
This week started last Thursday, we were advised to pay for an Appraisal but the HOA still hadn't been qualified by our Lender...make sense, Nope! Gut instincts kicked in and Aaron and I decided to "drop-out", luckily we didn't pay for the Appraisal. Turns out the HOA likely wouldn't have qualified due to arrearments in Dues so we made the right decision.

Back to square 1 on the house hunt, but feeling good about it!

~The Bird~
On Monday, I went to my MIL's house to pick the Bird up and boy did she have a story for me!!! While she was doing laundry in her Laundry room, he backed out of the door and locked the dead bolt. My MIL, to no avail, tried to get him to unlock the door to let her back in but it wasn't happening so she tried the rest of the doors to her house...no luck! Fortunately, there was a window cracked and she was forced to climb in only to find the Bird screaming bloody murder.

Oh my little button pusher/knob turner!!!

That same day he apparently turned the oven knob at his Auntie K's house and successfully burned her bread.

Keep in mind, this was ONLY Monday!!!

Tuesday, the Bird was with me, we had a great day and Wednesday he spent the day with Daddy!

It is Thursday and after Aaron's Dentist appointment he went to pick up the Bird at my MIL's house only to find that the Bird had tripped on his own feet into her (luckily round) coffee table. He has a whopper of a knot on his forehead but according to the Doctor he should be just fine! He's such a trooper and I'm lovingly now dubbing him, "Bruiser". They came by my office after seeing the Doctor and he was all smiles, I'm so glad he's such a happy kid!

Is it Friday yet?

~Mamabird~
I'm looking forward to this weekend's 5k in Pacific Grove with our neighbors.

Underpaid Thinker

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Can I request overtime pay if I spend countless hours during the middle of the night thinking about work?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Does Selena Gomez get royalty payments if she is playing in my head over and over again while doing said overtime?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Bird is sleeping in today, I have piles of Laundry to fold and it's only 6:00 AM.
7pm tonight, I long for you!
On the Wagon and to the Right of the Potty
A weekend of Milestones!
The Bird is officially on the Wagon, or rather off the bottle! I knew it was time when he started chewing through the bottle nipples and tore the last one off last week. We tried a cup of warm milk the first night but he roundhoused it right into my lap! Cups of milk are no-no in bed now. The next night we tried warm milk in a sippy cup, he resisted and didn't seem too interested. On the third night, it was meltdown city and we reverted back to a bottle, but that night he chewed through the last nipple we had--leaving him out of luck.
Since that night, we have successfully used sippy cups and are on the Bottle Wagon, yay for my big Boy!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I let the Bird run around before his bath last night and just like Murphy says, he did what I wouldn't want him to do. He pooped in the Bathroom, just to the right of the Potty. The way I see it, he did it in the correct room, at least!

It's never a dull moment with him and frankly I wouldn't have it any other way!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a Mama note: I ran/walked a 5K on Saturday, with no prep at all and did better than I expected. I'm proud of my accomplishment and happy that I have a Family that encourages such personal excursions!
Cheese and Media
There is no shortage of Loveys and Baumpys in our Home, but the things the Bird cherishes the most, aside from Mama and Daddy are his DVD's, CD's and Cheese.
He has a new Hannah Montana DVD and he nearly fell asleep with it in his hands last night. The same goes for the "Lena" (Selena Gomez) CD that Aaron just bought him. He carries them around like loveys and was so proud to show me when I got home last night from work. Something we HAVE to do soon is film him when the Hannah Montana intro comes on, he dances and plays the drums all the while mimicking Hannah's arm movements and her laugh at the end. It's a sight to see!
As for Cheese, he has a way of saying cheese so emphatically that you can't help but give him some. We've had to take cheese from one store into other stores to keep from the dreaded, "CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSHHEEEEE!!" over and over again. And yes, it does read correctly, he makes it sound like there is an H in there, sort of Daffy Duck-ish if you ask me.
So to make a long blog short, we have a son who loves his Cheese and Media.
M&M kind of day
It's a Wednesday and this is one of those "Good" Wednesdays when I didn't have to get up at 4:45, take the Bird to Hollister and then after work go back to pick him up at Nonnie's house. It is, however, an M&M kind of day. They just make me happy but they go too quickly, sometimes. I always find myself mushing the bag down in disbelief after I've popped the last one.
